John Spencer

Executive Vice President

John Spencer joined Senergy USA in the spring of 2009 as its Executive Vice President. John brings to the company more than thirty years of successful executive leadership in both the private and public sectors.

John served as Mayor of Yonkers New York from 1996 to 2004. Yonkers is New York State’s 4th largest city and has a population of 200,000, with an operating budget of over 800 million dollars. As the city’s Chief Executive Officer, John’s leadership and management style brought fiscal stability to a once financially troubled city. Working closely with then Governor George Pataki, John reclaimed oversight control of Yonkers from the New York State Control Board- a first in more than 16 years.

Before he took office, development in Yonkers had been stagnant for decades. However during his tenure as Mayor, John oversaw numerous major redevelopment ventures including the downtown waterfront revitalization and the multi-use projects at Austin Avenue and Ridge Hill off the New York State Thruway.

Prior to his election as Mayor, John served six years as the Majority Leader of the Yonkers City Council where he gained invaluable legislative experience.

Before committing himself to public service, John had a distinguished career in the private sector. John started his career with Cushman and Wakefield after which he became a Vice President at Bankers Trust Co. in New York City where he managed over 3 million sq.ft. of office space and new construction.

John attended Westchester Community College before enlisting in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. He served as a 1st Lt, platoon leader and was the recipient of the Bronze Star and Combat Infantryman’s Badge.
